In the previous century owning or collecting books of Marathi natyasangeet, dharmik literature, English classics, etc was a time-consuming and costly affair. As a result only families of nobility or aristocracy could create and maintain book collections. With time, such collections have become rare and valuable. This is one such collection put together by the illustrious Shrimant Sardar Raste family in the previous century. This collection was housed in the famous Raste Wada at Mehunpura, Pune.
